When I began working with Jair Santamaria, who runs a hair and beauty salon in London SE1, one of the aspects of his business I reviewed was his website. It had a great visual look, clear navigation and good speed of loading. But I also saw that it could really benefit from some basic optimisation of text content, keywords and meta tags in order to better meet the needs of his target audience and ensure high visibility at search engine level.

It took me just two hours to do this optimisation work. And the results? Within two weeks, Google had already picked up the new site description (i.e. the one that features in the Google results page) and within one month the site was already ranking on pages 1, 2 and 3 of Google for all the key search phrases for Jair's target audience.

Time and again when I talk to business owners or look at their websites, I notice the same type of issues that were apparent on Jair's website when I first met him. Such issues are often easy to fix and can make a real difference both to how a site communicates its message to its target audience and how it ranks in the search results.
